Chung-Ang University Business School strives to become a world-class business school.


Mission

The mission of Chung-Ang University Business School is to educate and nurture global leaders with sound intellectual foundation and social responsibility and to contribute to the development of knowledge in business fields, business enterprises, and community organizations.

Objectives

The challenges inherent to our mission and strategic values commit us to the following nine objectives under the four strategic values:

[Objective 3] - Develop infrastructures in support of quality teaching and research.

Action Items

For each of these objectives, we have developed a set of supporting action items to guide our continuous improvement activities. The pursuit of action items will be assessed periodically and could pave way for better attainment of the strategic values.


Objective 1: Provide quality business programs founded in theory and practice.

Enhance the process of defining, executing, monitoring, and assessing the learning goals and objectives.
- Example) Augmentation of the curriculum committee.

Develop system to support faculty to further advance teaching effectiveness.
- Example) Enhancement of appreciation for excellence in teaching and encouragement of faculty to cooperate with "Teaching Methodology Development Center".

Expand the size of faculty to improve the student-to-faculty ratio.

Increase the number of full-time instructors.

Objective 2: Recruit, retain, and support faculty committed to high impact research.

Encourage faculty members to publish in top-tier regional and international academic journals.

Encourage faculty to increase research collaboration with other faculty members.
- Example) Holding of regular brownbag seminars and workshops in different disciplines.

Maintain high standards of research requirements for faculty evaluation by reviewing the quality of publications.

Invite internationally renowned scholars and encourage research collaboration with them.

Enhance the research quality and productivity of graduate students.
- Example) Making a refereed journal publication as a requirement for graduation.


Objective 3: Develop infrastructures in support of quality teaching and research.

Provide quality infrastructure for teaching and research by expending and renovating facilities.
- Example) Construction of the new Chung-Ang University Business School Building.

Render the school's administrative operation system updated to better support teaching and research activities.

Reorganize the regular committee in charge of implementing, monitoring, and refining the Strategic Plan.
- Example) of AACSB Taskforce Team, strengthening the role of Business School Strategy Committee, and engagement of all faculty members in school committees.


Objective 4: Encourage students to be innovative leaders.

Develop and offer courses focused on building team spirit.
- Example) Development of various team project-based course contents.

Hold special lectures regularly to encourage leadership.
- Example) Initiation of distinguished speaker series and invitation of alumni and company CEOs as a speaker.

Implement the "self-guided curriculum" to diversify and personalize the learning experiences.

Update the process of advising students on their academic progress and future career.

Objective 5: Pursue academic leadership through innovative research.

Hold international joint workshop and forums with other universities.

Continuously develop and foster innovative curriculum that can cultivate students' ability to lead the fast evolving society.
- Example) Development of new courses in areas such as Green Management and Sustainability Management.

Encourage faculty to participate in regional and international academic conferences and take a leading role in academic communities.


Objective 6: Encourage and support students to build their global competences.

Expand the academic exchange and dual degree programs with globally renowned universities.
- Example) enhancement of MBA program with Fudan University, and establishment of the undergraduate dual degree program with George Mason University.

Develop special programs focusing on the global market.
- Example) Development of the Global Finance Program at the undergraduate level.

Increase the ratio of courses in English and the enrollment of those courses.

Offer expanded opportunities for students to develop global appreciation and ability to discuss global business issues.
- Example) Improvement of business communication and debate courses.


Objective 7: Raising the global awareness of our program.

Establish the basis for a "Triple Crown (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA)" accredited school.

Attract international students that represent a diverse array of regional, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Increase the number of international full-time faculty members to achieve faculty diversity.

- Example) Revision of the code of "Chaam Manager"

Raise the awareness of students, faculty, and staff about the code of conduct.

Emphasize business ethics and social responsibility in the curriculum of various courses.

Raise the awareness of corporate responsibility in the global context.
- Example) Participation in the UN's Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRIME).


Objective 9: Reinforce community outreach with social responsibility.

Build and strengthen the outreach network with external stakeholders.
- Example) Enhancement of alumni meeting, parents, teacher association, and meetings with community organizations and the industry.

Organize and operate the "BEAC"(Business Education Advisory Committee) composed of internal (faculty, students, staff) and external(business, government agencies, community organizations ) stakeholders.

Encourage and enhance support for the community outreach activities of students, faculty, and staff.

Increase the internship and employment opportunities through cooperation with the industry.

Facilitate and support the professional success of students in their chosen careers.
- Example) Strengthening activities of the Career Development Center and providing support to acquire professional certifications such as CPA and CFA.
